Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled time & report to the concession stand for sign-in. Your child will be assigned a number and be sent to the correct field to warm up. Your child needs to bring a glove, at minimum. They are also welcome to bring their own bats & helmets (optional).
If your child cannot attend, he/she will be randomly placed on a team (cannot be drafted).
** T-ball and 13-15 yr old players need not attend Skills Day; they’ll be contacted separately.
Why do we hold Skills Day?
Skills day is a fun day at the ballpark, as players run through baseball drills. Each child is given a rating during drills, and coaches use these to divide players evenly during the draft. Registration special requests will be reviewed, but please understand, player ratings and the draft process are what determine team placement. Not all requests can be granted; it’s just not mathematically possible! SIAA’s goal is to have well-balanced teams; ideally, each team will have a 50/50 win/loss record. Teams will be drafted by coaches after Skills, and your assigned Coach will contact you after that.
Practices
Teams will practice 2 times a week at first. Coaches will choose their own practice spots. Once games begin, practices will be scheduled as available and typically not be more than once a week. Practice location options include Stumpy Creek Park, Woodland Heights Elementary & Middle Schools, The Brawley School IB (if their staff allows it), and Lake Norman Elementary.
Games
Games begin April 5 and will be played on weeknights and Saturdays. Playoffs will follow the regular season and end in late May, weather permitting.
Sponsors
Every team needs a sponsor; help us find them by asking businesses you support to support youth sports in Iredell County. Quite often, companies have money set aside for charitable contributions, and simply need to be asked.
